Arc'teryx Beta AR - Review
If you have ordered online from us, odds are that Rowly packed your order. If you've come to see us regarding the warranty of a product, you have likely encountered Rowly, the friendly giant of our Hobart store. Rowly recently tested out the Arc'teryx Beta AR (all round) and here's what he had to say:
The Beta AR (All Round) surpassed my expectations as soon as I put it on, with its robust yet lightweight design. It feels like a durable hard shell ready for Winter, yet moves like a much lighter jacket, ready to protect you from the spring/summer alpine conditions we have here in Tasmania.
A typical weekend for me is usually a bushwalk, mountain bike ride or a short sharp scramble up something steep. I can say this jacket had my back for it all. It kept me dry/comfortable as the temperatures changed and the freedom of movement of the cut allowed me to adventure freely. Arcteryx really have gone out of their way to create a jacket that works amazingly well across so many different activities!
The face fabric is durable enough for heavy packs and scrub; this stops you looking back over your shoulder for a hole or tear!
The jacket’s fit is slightly loose to allow important layers to sit comfortably underneath, yet it feels slim enough that you don’t feel like you’re wearing something baggy. The articulated fit around the arms allows for amazing freedom of movement for the upper body during climbs and scrambles, that makes you forget you’re wearing a hard shell. The hood fits perfectly to protect the ears and face from the elements, even whilst a helmet is in use.
The pocket configuration offers two hand pockets and an internal chest pocket to keep your phone dry, and on warmer days there’s the option to open up the pit zips for increased ventilation. Finally my favourite feature (and one so many other jackets fall short on) is the collar. It sits perfectly around the bottom of the face, which offers that extra protection to dip your chin down and hide from chilly wind when you need to!
Overall, during my adventuring in a variety of conditions, I’ve remained comfortable and protected. I can say the Beta AR really does live up to its name. It’s an awesome “all round” jacket!
