ONE PLANET®

MAKE IT GOOD. MAKE IT WORK. MAKE IT LAST.

ONE PLANET® is a Australian outdoor equipment manufacturer specialising in backpacks, sleeping bags, tents, rainwear, and apparel. It is very much a hands-on operation, with everything from design to production to sales, all done from the Melbourne factory and office, allowing real control over quality, the company’s direction, customer satisfaction, and just about everything else.

ONE PLANET® values good design, the sourcing of ethical and sustainable materials, and low-impact production.

STORM FOOT

The ONE PLANET® Storm Foot is a waterproof, windproof, breathable foot-box for the Sonder, Bungle and Cocoon, ensuring warmer feet, maximum loft and better performance. We use Pertex Quantum Pro® to protect the foot of the bags, effectively preventing moisture from entering. No more cold, damp feet from the condensation on the inside of the tent – this is a must have!

BAFFLE CONSTRUCTION

ONE PLANET baffle technology maximises thermal efficiency. The Vertical V baffle system uses vertical and V baffles to keep our lofty down in its precise location, no matter how you wriggle and roll. Box-wall baffles connect the outer shell and internal fabric, creating 3D chambers that promote lofting, aid even insulation and stop draughts.

Pertex Quantum Pro Shell

Used on Bush Lite, Rumour and Winter Lite sleeping bags.

The fabric combines a highly breathable microporous coating with a durable face fabric and is 100% windproof and waterproof, with high breathability.

ZIPS

ONEPLANET® use YKK #5 locking zips with an anti-snag slider. The anti-snag covers make jamming zips a thing of the past, while the YKK #5 zip is more reliable, durable and lasts longer than lower-gauge zips.

SLEEPING BAGS

One Planet’s range of sleeping bags has a model to suit every need. All sleeping bags are tested in accordance with the independent, reliable ISO 23537-1 temperature test, giving transparency and certainty to warmth claims. All down bags are hand-filled to order in their Melbourne factory using 800-850 loft, ethically-sourced, non-PFC hydrophobic down.

What sleeping bag do I need?

Sleeping bags can be broken down into four main types, although categories do overlap:

- Lighter summer options: Nitrous and Quest Pro Quilt.
- Lightweight and compact options: Sonder and Cocoon Series.
- Warmer alpine options: Rumour and Bungle Series.
- Winter alpine option: Bush Lite and Winter Lite Series.

Diamondloc

When rucksack weight is the priority, ONE PLANET® use Diamondloc fabric. Weighing a paltry 170 g/m2, this 210-denier nylon is reinforced with a grid of UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene). It has incredible tear resistance and stops puncture rips in their tracks. Diamondloc is finished with a polyurethane coating on the inside and a DWR, Non PFC water-shedding treatment on the outside, making it water resistant. Diamondloc is perfect for lighter, faster adventures, both on and off track.

WATER BOTTLE POCKETS

Water is critical, and never far from a bushwalkers’ mind. Our generously-cut bottle pockets are low and handy, making water accessible and putting weight close to your back for ergonomic load carrying. Perfect for bottles of all sizes (designed for 1L Nalgene’s), they also have a drain hole, preventing your pockets becoming buckets when it’s raining cats and dogs.

Designed For Natural Airflow

We’ve combined practical understanding of bushwalking and clever design to maximise ventilation and manage moisture. There are three essential contact areas on our harnesses – both shoulders and the lower lumbar – to allow healthy carrying. Air mesh lets air flow through harness foams, while space around the spine increases natural ventilation.

FLOATING LID

The floating lid and double-layered throat are designs born of experience. The lid is attached with straps, allowing extension to give 5-10 litres of extra capacity when needed: for water runs, helping mates or the start of a long multi-day trip. Functionality and comfort combine: cinch the internal compression-strap tight to create room for a broad-brimmed hat. There is also an externally-accessed pocket with key clip and a discrete internal pocket.

HARNESS CONSTRUCTION

ONE PLANET® laminated three-layer foam delivers solid support, plush comfort and a breathable contact area, with protective treatment against bacteria and rot. Their hardened aluminium frames are hand-bent, strong and light for efficiently transferring load to the lumbar pad, with channelling to increase rigidity. The double-back hipbelt contours to your body, providing support and easy fit.

HIKING PACKS

Built and tested in Australia, ONE PLANET® hiking packs are designed for exceptional comfort, durability, and performance in demanding conditions. Across their range of WATERLOC® canvas and Diamondloc rucksacks and bags, they prioritise durability, water- and weather-resistance. This can be seen in their use of top-notch materials and componentry, as well as in the superior design and construction of our gear. These packs are built to handle everything from lightweight adventures to remote multi-day expeditions.

The ONE PLANET EXACT FIT® harness is the brand’s premium load-carrying system, developed over more than 30 years and recognised for its outstanding comfort and support. In fact, it remains the only large rucksack harness endorsed by the Australian Chiropractors’ Association.

What Type of Harness Do I Need?

Choosing the right hiking pack harness comes down to how much weight you carry, how long you’re out for, and the level of support you need on the trail.

- EXACT FIT® Harness: Designed for heavier loads, multi-day hikes, trekking, and remote expeditions. Offers maximum support, adjustability, and load transfer.
- EXACT FIT® Mid Harness: A lighter, streamlined system ideal for day hikes, travel, and lightweight adventures carrying 5–20kg.

Both harness systems feature supportive hipbelts, ergonomic shoulder straps, and adjustable fit systems for all-day comfort on the trail.

CROSS-POLE STRUCTURE

ONE PLANET® uses the cross-pole system for its unparalleled strength-to-weight, and ease of use. The three poles cross at the peak for even weight distribution, providing excellent rigidity whilst preserving internal height. The freestanding design is no slouch: the inner and fly are held taut and separate, a must in wind and rain! The structure is simple, eliminating structural hubs for maximum strength and aerodynamic shaping, giving you confidence in powerful, gusty winds.

VENTILATION

ONE PLANET® vents are shaped to prevent the entrance of wind-driven rain. The stiffeners keep the vents open in wind, but can be easily rolled during pack down. The vent hood overlaps the mesh underneath to prevent drips and block bugs, importantly generous spacing between the fly and the inner allows constant air flow (from the base up and out, like a chimney) to minimise moisture build-up.

FLOORS BUILD FOR LIFE

The Goondie Series has a 70 D Nylon – PeU coated 20,000+ HH floor, Non PFC, which sounds more technical than it is: it’s a solid reliable floor designed for (and tested, reviewed, and loved in) Australian conditions.  Our Goondie 1 and 2 are made from a single piece of fabric, eliminating the floor seam removes a common wear point.

HIKING TENTS

Hiking tents are designed to give shelter from the elements and to be carried. Within these parameters there is a vast array of design and constructions. The Goondie Series is versatile from the ground up, giving you choice in size (1, 2 and 3-person) and material and style. There are two completely compatible options for both fly and inner: the Goondie nylon or mesh can be paired with either the 7 D nylon or 30 D polyester fly.

What type of tent do I need?

The following questions will help to narrow the field:

- How many people do you need to accommodate?
- Where do you live, and where do you make regular trips?
- What is the climate like where you will be doing most of your camping?
- Are you looking for a tent for a specific trip? Will a tent for that purpose suit likely trips later?

Tent weight

Hiking tents need to be carried so they shouldn’t weigh heaps. You’ll need to carry other essentials – food, clothing, fuel etc – so aim for a tent which provides the shelter and durability you need for your intended use.
