Towering over Dove Lake, Tassie’s Cradle Mountain is a feast for the eyes! Behold, Frenchmans Cap! This magnificent quartzite dome in the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park is the most prominent peak – reaching 1,446 meters in height! Each day of the 4 – 5 day hike presents a variety of golden buttongrass plains and mossy rain forests filled with Huon and King Billy pines. The peak of Frenchmans Cap rewards you with glorious views of Tassie!

Larapuna patch! The Aboriginal name for Tasmania’s spectacular north-east coast, with its Bay of Fires and Eddystone Point. Rocky landscapes with brilliant orange lichen, white sands, and clear waters have been home to the pakana (Tasmanian Aboriginal people) for tens of thousands of years. Given back to the Aboriginal community in 2006, the amazing Larapuna does not disappoint!

Restore Pedder

Lake Pedder's Former Glory
With its distinctive pink quartzite beaches, Lake Pedder was an extraordinary glacial lake at the foot of the Frankland Range in Tasmania’s deep southwest. The impressive beach was 3 km long and wide enough to land the light planes that chartered small tourist groups. Lake Pedder was then flooded in 1972 for a hydroelectric scheme – and hasn’t been the same since. The Lake Pedder Restoration Committee is now on the front lines of campaigning for the restoration of Tasmania’s jewel.

Swift Parrot

Tough Times For Tasmania's Swift Parrot
Show your love for the stunning swift parrot! The critically endangered swift parrot is facing tough times with the destruction of the forests they call home, and the arrival of the sugar glider that has evicted them from their nesting hollows. Each autumn, fewer swift parrots are making the migration after breeding in Tassie to Victoria, and it’s estimated that they could be extinct by 2031. But only if we let that happen!

With terrifying nighttime shrieks and jaws that can open 80° wide, these little guys are a fearsome foe. But the Tasmanian devil has it tough. Sadly, Tassie devils are under threat due to vehicle collisions, habitat destruction, and an invasive facial tumour spreading throughout the population.
