Description

The Torrent (men’s) is made for multi-day, pack-carrying bushwalks in serious terrain. It’s the longest jacket in our range, made from rugged, highly waterproof/breathable Synapse® fabric. Built for performance and engineered to keep you dry and warm.

The Torrent’s protection is complemented by its features, which shine when carrying a rucksack: strategically-placed seams, accessible torso pockets and venting zips for dumping heat during intense activity. The articulated hood allows both vision and protection thanks to its wire brim, face drawcord and rear adjustment. A full-length storm flap shields the water-resistant zip, a chin guard adds comfort, while cinching the waist drawcord allows vital warmth to be retained. An advanced piece of equipment for remote wilderness journeys.

Usage - Bushwalking
Designed for remote, pack-carrying trips in, fair, fine or foul weather conditions. Protective, durable and breathable.

Length - Long
Longer jackets, finishing lower-to-mid-thigh, designed for added protection in wet scrub.

Material - Synapse®
A three-layer, WPB performance fabric that is engineered for bushwalking and active alpine sports.

Fit - Relaxed Outer Layer
An outer layer that leaves space for mid layers, designed to move with the body during activity.

Articulated Hood
Our articulated hood is a welcome retreat when the weather turns bad. The careful design and three-piece pattern ensures excellent face protection in driving wind and rain, while the brim’s strong, shapeable wire creates a veranda for your face. The hood’s structure and natural articulation allows clear sight, with easy adjustments made to the brim positioning using the rear hook-and-loop adjustment, and a drawcord to cinch the hood around your face.

Torso Pockets
Our torso pockets are positioned high on the chest so you can still use them when wearing a harness. They’re big enough for maps and other essentials, while neatly holding the contents so they don’t bounce around when you move. The water-resistant zips have tactile pull-tabs, and are protected by double-layer, angled storm flaps to shield from rain, run-off and scrub. Externally-accessed pockets mean your core stays warm, dry and protected.

Storm Flaps
Reliable storm flaps are essential for bushwalking and alpine activities in wild weather and terrain. A storm flap is a physical barrier protecting the water-resistant zips from abrasion and scrub while stopping gusts, dripping moisture and wind-driven rain – particularly important when you’re active and the zip flexes over many back-country adventures! The hook-and-loop closure on the front flap is easy to use (even when wearing bulky gloves) and stays securely closed.

Seams & Seam Sealing
To keep you dry, rainwear needs you be thoughtfully constructed, with tape used to seal all seams. Seams must also be designed for flexibility and movement; their positioning is critical for longevity and pack-carrying comfort. ONE PLANET reduces the number of seams to increase durability and decrease bulk, and strategically positions them off the shoulder, avoiding potential rub points when carrying a pack. All ONE PLANET rainwear garments are cut for freedom of movement, with all seams taped in our Melbourne factory.

Mechanical Venting
Mechanical ventilation increases direct air flow, allowing you to dump heat and keep cool during periods of intense exertion. ONE PLANET® torso vents are located under the same storm flap as the torso pocket, openable with an individual zip pull that allows air to flow inside. This position allows us to use a higher gauge and quality zipper without bulk and irrigation under the arm. During regular activity, keep the vents closed to maintain the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the jacket as this allows Synapse® to manage moisture (breathe).

Melbourne Made
ONE PLANET® 3-layer rainwear is designed for bushwalking and alpine use in the antipodes, and directly informed by local experience. We prioritise function and performance, and include features you’ll appreciate in foul weather. Like Synapse® waterproof, windproof, breathable fabric; the extra length in our jackets. Our designs have adjustable storm hoods, longer sleeves, storm flaps on the zips and clever pockets that work with your pack harness. All our rainwear is also designed, stitched and seam sealed in our Melbourne factory.

Icon bushwalkingFeatures
  • Waterproof: impenetrable to water; shields from rain, snow and wild weather
  • Windproof: protects from the chilling effects of wind and weather to keep you warm
  • Breathable: effectively evacuates sweat and moisture, ensuring comfort while both active and at rest
  • Durable: tough, three-layer fabric combined with a refined design to balance low weight with practicality. ONE PLANET rainwear is built to perform while carrying a heavy pack: key areas are reinforced, while clever pattern-making positions seams to prevent uncomfortable pressure points
  • Longer (mid-thigh) jackets are the ideal Australian waterproof as they keep your shorts dry when walking. Traditional, yet hard to find…
  • Waist drawcords stop the wind whistling up to chill your core.  Internally routed, and accessed via the torso pocket, and positioned for comfort when wearing a hipbelt
  • The laminated chin guard protects your face from the zip slider, with a soft-to-touch micro-weave lining
  • We use #8 water-resistant, two-way zips on our jacket fronts, with a chunky slider for easy use when wearing gloves. Designed to allow a long walking stride and unimpeded gait when climbing hills
  • An exterior storm flap is a physical barrier to protect the zip: it keeps the rain out much more effectively than a water-resistant zip on its own. Secured with a hook-and-loop closure, this design choice prioritises function first
  • The three-piece pattern of our hood allows excellent vision naturally, while providing excellent coverage when adventuring in foul weather
  • The hood can be adjusted to suit using multiple adjustment points: a wired brim, face drawcord and rear hook-and-loop tab
  • Torso pockets are located higher on the chest, above the hipbelt: this allows full access even when wearing a rucksack. The pockets are protected from rain by both a top flap and their naturally closed position
  • ONE PLANET® vents are located on the front of the jacket. This is the most effective position for increasing direct air flow to your core without increasing underarm bulk, allowing you to dump excess heat on the go
  • Our sleeve lengths are longer so they don’t ride up during movement. The hook-and-loop cuff can cover your gloves, and your hands can retreat into the sleeves in foul weather. The sleeve design allows natural moving and bending
  • The 75 D polyester face fabric is chosen for its burly nature. It is very durable and has high resistance to abrasion and pin pricks, making it excellent for remote pack-carrying trips
  • To increase waterproofness and durability, seams are sealed in our Melbourne factory
  • Made in Melbourne
