The Bush Lite combines the ultimate in four-season warmth and weather protection with the luxury of more space. The bags are available in three temperatures, rated to the lower limit for both males (M) and females (F): -11 M (-4 F) °C or -15 M (-8 F) °C or -19 M (-11 F) °C tested in accordance with ISO 23537.1.The Bush Lite comes in small, regular and large sizes and is filled with 800-850 loft Non PFC hydrophobic Down. The roomy bag gives more wriggle room, while the vertical baffle system ensures maximum warmth for weight. Made from water-resistant, breathable Pertex Quantum Pro, the shell gives top-end durability, breathability and water resistance at minimum weight. For durability and function, the full-length zip is a YKK #5 with anti-snag cover.
How Warm Will I Be?
ISO 23537-1 temperature testing provides a temperature limit at which a “standard male” or “standard female” will sleep in thermal equilibrium (have a comfortable night’s sleep).
Both the ‘standard male’ and ‘standard female’ are based on a 25-year-old who is fit and healthy. If you’re older or younger, you may sleep colder than the ‘standard’, so we would recommend considering a warmer bag. Your other equipment (sleeping mat, pillow, tent style) the environment (weather, location) and your biology can affect warmth over the night.
The Importance Of Independent ISO 23537-1 Testing
Each ONE PLANET Bush Lite sleeping bag is temperature rated in accordance with the International Organisation for Standardisation 23537-1 (Requirements for sleeping bags). This is the only globally recognised standard for the temperature testing of sleeping bags, and gives ratings for both females and males. Testing sleeping bags to ISO 23527-1 allows users to make informed, educated and accurate decisions.
The ISO 23537-1 testing methods allows objective comparisons of the warmth of different shapes (mummy and tapered rectangular), sizes (small, regular and large), fill quality (synthetic fill, 700+ down fill power or 800+ down fill power), construction and design.
Not all manufacturers test to this standard, nor do they give information about how they arrive at their temperature ratings. As a result, care should be taken when comparing claims of warmth.
Baffle Construction
ONE PLANET baffle technology maximises thermal efficiency.
The vertical baffle system uses vertical and horizontal chambers to keep lofty down in the right spot, regardless of night-time manoeuvres. Box wall baffles connect the outer shell and internal fabric, creating 3D chambers that promote lofting, aid even insulation and stop draughts. The differential cut also assists lofting: the internal fabric is cut narrower than the outer shell, making the bag’s inner circumference smaller than its outer.
Zips
Every detail counts. We use YKK #5 locking zips with an anti-snag slider. The anti-snag covers make jamming zips a thing of the past, while the YKK #5 zip is more reliable, durable and lasts longer than lower-gauge zips.
Using a locking slider stops the zip from creeping open, so it will stay where you want it to for a good night’s sleep.
Pertex Quantum Pro
Pertex Quantum Pro efficiently manages moisture whilst providing essential weather protection. This lightweight durable fabric is an ideal choice for multiday, alpine or condensation rich adventures. The fabric combines a highly breathable microporus coating with a super-durable face fabric and is 100% windproof. Weighting a measly 36 g/m2, it has a 1000 mm waterhead and legendary breathability: 7000 g/m2/24 hours (JIS L 1099 A-1 testing). You do the comparisons: it’s hard to beat!
Hydrophobic Down
All ONE PLANET down has been treated with a Non PFC hydrophobic water repellency application. This causes the down to repel water rather than absorb it, minimising clumping and helping the down in your sleeping bag stay dry and lofty.
Hydrophobic Down allows your sleeping bag to dry quicker and stay warm for longer, and is especially important for bags used on multiday journeys or in wet conditions.
Down Distribution
In each ONE PLANET Bush Lite sleeping bag, 55 per cent of the down fill is on the top and 45 per cent is on the bag’s base. We’ve selected this distribution of down after carefully considering how real people move and sleep – after all, we want it to work in real life! This down distribution ensures you stay warm in every position, preventing a cold back as you roll, wriggle and move.
Premium Loft
The quality of down used in a Nitrous sleeping bag makes a huge difference to its warmth, weight, durability and compactness, as well as the loft recovery of the fill. We use 800-850 loft Hydrophobic Down Non PFC – our premium choice and a must for the gram counters.
Ethically-Sourced Down
ONE PLANET takes its responsibility to uphold the highest standards of animal welfare seriously. Our down is gathered in a way that meets our strict ethical and quality standards, and is sourced as a by-product from the food and meat industry. We source from certified facilities and audit with the IDFL (International Down and Feather Laboratory). In our Melbourne factory we hold only our own audited batches of down: there is no chance of cross contamination.
Filled In Melbourne
Each ONE PLANET Bush Lite sleeping bag is filled to order, in our Melbourne factory – usually the day after the order is placed! We’ve been filling our sleeping bags in Australia for more than 40 years: it’s the best way to ensure premium-quality, freshly-made bags.
We can personally embroider every stuff sack. It brings us great joy to make your bag as unique as you are.
Design Philosophy
Our design innovations have led the way since 1980, both locally and globally. Our sleeping bags are designed after careful consideration of real sleep – how we lie, move and lose warmth – and real people, with ranges made to fit females and males of all shapes and sizes.
ONE PLANET sleeping bags combine 40 years of manufacturing experience with world-leading materials, modern scientific testing and the passion to keep improving.
Features
- The Tapered rectangular shape of the Bush Lite sleeping bag is flexible, versatile and comfortable
- Box-wall baffling gives maximum thermal efficiency
- The vertical baffle system (vertical-horizontal-vertical baffles) blocks the migration of down, keeping it trapped where you need it most
- Differentially cut baffles promote full and complete lofting of down
- The half-moon foot-box is wide and cosy, while base draft tubes keep you warm and toasty
- The contoured hood encloses your head, cinching tight while leaving enough space for your nose and mouth
- The elasticised 3D neck baffle effectively traps warmth around the neck and shoulders
- Two draught tubes (top and bottom) insulate the side zipper
- An external hood baffle cuts wind keeping your face and nose protected
- Full-length side zip runs from hood to ankle: a YKK #5 with locking slider and innovative, anti-snag cover
- Independent zip on the foot (from ankle to ankle) can be opened fully for extra ventilation
- The two zips meet above the ankle, with a 10 cm crossover to keep draughts out
- Selecting a zip side is easy: when lying in a sleeping bag, a left-hand zip (LH) is on your left side
